Become part of a centuries-old custom as we bless the apple trees in the Folk of Gloucester garden to bring in a year of good health\, good luck and fruitful harvests. \nOur 500-year-old historic building is hosting a day of live music\, Morris dancing and community celebration. Enjoy delicious food and drink in our cafe and bar\, kids’ craft activities\, stalls and demonstrations\, and of course excellent craft cider! \nSchedule:\n11am – music and song session in the Ed Shed\n12pm – Morris dancing in the courtyard\n12:30pm – Morris dancing at the Cross (Gloucester city centre)\n2pm – Morris dancing in the courtyard\n2:30pm – procession followed by Wassail ceremony with speech\, music\, singing and a firing cannon!\n4pm – close \nAdults: suggested donation £4 on the door (children free). All proceeds go towards the upkeep of our historic building.

DESCRIPTION:The Lantern Parade & Christmas Light Switch-On is back this year! Enchanted Winter Forest lanterns will light the streets of Gloucester to mark the start of the Festive season!  \nKicking off the celebrations you can join the Gloucester Cathedral carol service at 4pm\, which will be followed by the lantern parade at 4:45pm which will wind through the city centre culminating in the magical Tree of Light switch on in Kings Square. \nFREE Lantern making Workshops \nIf you would like to take part in the parade\, there are free lantern making workshops at Folk of Gloucester Saturday 9th November 11am – 3pm & Eastgate Shopping Centre Saturday 16th November 2pm – 4pm. Workshops are free and open to all ages. \nFather Christmas and the rousing Gloster Gladiators Scout Band will lead the parade\, bringing musical cheer and greeting families as they pass. As the parade arrives\, the Tree of Light in Kings Square will have ceremonial switch on as part of the annual Rotary club fundraiser. DESCRIPTION:Celebrating all things Gloucester! \nGloucester Day falls on 7 September this year\, and the Cross Streets of Gloucester will come alive with stalls\, stands\, lively performances\, and all the pomp and ceremony of the traditional Gloucester Day parade through the four main gated streets\, led by the Mayor and Sheriff of Gloucester\, in full Civic Regalia. \nThe Gloucester Day event is the reinstatement of the original Gloucester Day – a day of celebration on the lifting of the siege of Gloucester – in 1643. The annual celebration is organised by Gloucester’s town crier Alan Myatt and supported by Gloucester City Council. \nEvents taking place include: \n11.00am – Mock Mayor of Barton’s Parade – Starting along Constitution Walk. This intentionally comic parade is filled with larger than life Gloucester characters\, traditional entertainers\, music and fun. \n12.00pm – 12.30pm – Thanksgiving Service at St Mary de Crypt – Everyone is invited to attend this free service. \n1.00pm – Siege of Gloucester Show at The Cross\, Gloucester City Centre. Enjoy the new comic drama featuring real characters associated with the Folk of Gloucester.\nGloucester Day Parade \n2.00pm – Gloucester Day Parade – Starting along Constitution Walk\, the second parade of the day is a more formal affair – involving hundreds of participants led by the Right Worshipful Mayor of Gloucester. Hundreds of people\, young and old\, march to show their pride for their city. \n2.00pm – 4.00pm – Music on the Green at Gloucester Cathedral – Gloucester Strings Ukulele Club will be returning to perform a selection of music outside The Monk’s Kitchen\, which will be open and serving food and drinks as usual. \n4.00pm – Siege of Gloucester Show at  The Folk\, 99-103 Westgate Street. Second chance to see the comic drama. Enjoy the rustic garden with bar and café selling home-made cakes and lunches.

Incredible vehicles from the 1900s through the Roaring Twenties and the War Years to the gleaming chrome of the fifties\, the iconic designs of the Swinging Sixties\, sports cars from the eighties and an instant nostalgia hit from nineties classics. \nThere’s an amazing array of nautical activities at Retro on the Water from boat trips to aquatic displays. DESCRIPTION:Join us for our Sing-Along-A-Christmas Carol event at the historic Blackfriars Priory\, (off Ladybellegate Street) Gloucester on Wednesday 6th December; 7.15pm until 9.30pm. Doors open at 6.45pm to enjoy a glass of mulled wine and a mince pie which are included in the ticket price (a suitable drink for the youngsters). Take a chance in our raffle with prizes kindly donated by our clients and Gloucestershire based businesses. Then join-in with all your favourite Christmas Carols and other Christmas songs with music provided by the Flowers Brass Band\, the West of England’s highest ranked brass band. \nAll proceeds from the event will be donated to local charity\, Young Gloucestershire (YG). YG supports young people to have the confidence\, motivation and skills to improve their lives. \nChristmas isn’t always a magical time for young people. Vulnerable young people are stuck at home facing domestic violence\, exploitation\, and poor family life. This Christmas\, come together as a business community to support these young people by raising money. Last year\, our event raised over £2000 for Young Gloucestershire. \nNB. Owing to the age of the building\, despite being indoors we advise that attendees wear warm clothes and perhaps bring a rug or blanket.
