DESCRIPTION:Light Eternal: Yesterday\, Today\, Forever \nThis autumn\, you’re invited to come and experience Gloucester Cathedral like never before. Light Eternal: Yesterday\, Today\, Forever will take visitors on a journey that delves into the Cathedral’s 1000-year-long history\, examining its breathtaking architecture and stained glass\, as well as its more recent life as a famous filming location. From scripture adorning the walls of the Cloister through to choral music sheets illuminating the Quire\, there will be spectacles around every corner\, accompanied by a beautiful bespoke soundtrack. \nThe installation has been created by the world-renowned projection art gallery\, Luxmuralis\, which is a collaborative team combining artists from different backgrounds and disciplines. It is a brand-new show\, completely unique to Gloucester Cathedral\, that promises to ignite the imaginations of visitors from the moment they step inside the building. \nEntry to the event is by 15 minute time slots. First entry will be at 6.15pm and last entry will be at 8.45pm\, with the event ending at 10pm. We ask that you book a timed entry slot in advance\, but you are welcome to stay and enjoy the installation for as long as you like! DESCRIPTION:Windows Through Time’ is a striking light installation by renowned light artist Jack Wimperis. Huge windows will hang high above the street to highlight the amazing architecture in the wealth of historic buildings. Visitors to the street in the evenings of 20th and 21st\, 6-8pm\, will be able to pick up a trail leaflet from the Cathedral Quarter shop at no 21 Westgate St. The trail asks you to find 5 different types of historic windows and completed trails will receive a reward. \nTake a stroll down Westgate Streets colourful past and celebrate the local architecture using light. The ‘Windows Through Time’ light installation by light artist Jack Wimperis will be on display in Westgate Street. The artist made bespoke period windows that will hang high above the street\, and lighting will hi-light the amazing architecture in the wealth of historic buildings. \nJack Wimperis is based in Gloucestershire and started his career 40 years ago as a traditional stained-glass artist. He incorporated illumination into his pieces about 25 years ago and has subsequently built up a flourishing production studio producing sculptures\, installations and architectural lighting design. Artist\, Jack Wimperis says “It has been great to work with local business to animate Westgate Street and learn about the historic features on Westgate Street”. \nRun by Gloucester City Council and funded by Historic England\, Cathedral Quarter is breathing new life into Westgate Street by restoring historic buildings and bringing empty properties back into use. Gloucester Council’s HSHAZ team approached the Bright Nights to develop Windows Though Time through time to illuminate architectural features on Westgate Street buildings. \n (c) Andre Pattenden

Have your imaginations at the ready as our story unfolds and we see Nora’s world grow around her. \nFollowing sold out\, highly acclaimed tours\, Flock Theatre Makers will be bringing their musical-theatre adaptation of Lizzy Stewart’s award-winning children’s book ‘There’s a Tiger in the Garden’ to Blackfriars Priory this Autumn. \nUsing puppetry\, imaginative design and music – audiences are invited to join Nora as she discovers dragonflies as big as her head\, plants that can eat you (and your toy giraffe) whole\, a polar bear that likes fishing and maybe\, just maybe\, a tiger in the garden. Exploring the power of the imagination\, we invite families to follow Nora as she discovers the wonders hidden beyond the shrubbery. Come and enjoy the brilliance of this story brought to life. \nWorking closely with the author\, this much loved book has been turned into a theatre piece which promises fun for all the family. \nThe café will be open before the show for snacks and drinks. Only food and drink purchased on the premises may be consumed onsite. \nThe show will last approximately 45 minutes\, with 15 minutes at the end for children to meet the puppets. The show timings are 11am and 2:30pm. \nAll tickets £12.50.

Sponsored by Gloucester BID\, the lantern workshops will be in Eastgate shopping centre between 1-4pm. \nLantern Procession & Christmas Lights Switch on – 4.40pm \nWe see the return of the Lantern Procession and Christmas Lights Illumination on 18 November\, starting at 4.40pm in Southgate Street. Children across 6 primary schools this year have drawn upon the theme of the ’12 days of Christmas’\, an array of illuminated lanterns\, pipers piping\, and flying gold rings\, will form a parade. Pupils from 6 Gloucester schools taking part this year are: Meadowside Primary School\, The Altus School\, Coney Hill Community Primary School\, Field Court C of E Infant Academy\, Dinglewell Junior School\, and Kingsway Primary School. \nFor the first time the parade route will include Kings Square. Happenings along the parade route include the Christmas light switch on at 4.50pm at the Cross\, illuminating the gate streets. YG supports young people to have the confidence\, motivation and skills to improve their lives. \nChristmas isn’t always a magical time for young people. Vulnerable young people are stuck at home facing domestic violence\, exploitation\, and poor family life. This Christmas\, come together as a business community to support these young people by raising money. Last year\, our event raised over £2000 for Young Gloucestershire. \nNB. Owing to the age of the building\, despite being indoors we advise that attendees wear warm clothes and perhaps bring a rug or blanket.
