SUMMARY:Three choirs festival
DESCRIPTION:The Three Choirs Festival is formed of a week-long celebration of choral and orchestral concerts\, cathedral services\, solo and chamber music recitals\, masterclasses\, talks\, theatre\, exhibitions and walks. The festival rotates each summer between the beautiful English cathedral cities of Hereford\, Gloucester and Worcester. \nHaving celebrated its 300th anniversary in 2015\, the festival is the oldest non-competitive classical music festival in the world. The festival is run by dedicated voluntary committees in Hereford\, Worcester and Gloucester\, who are supported by a small professional management team based at the Three Choirs Festival Association’s office in Gloucester.

DESCRIPTION:International Children’s Day is back! \nFor the second year running we will be celebrating a fun children’s day at Gloucester Park – a wonderful event organised by the Polish Association Gloucestershire and the Polish parish in Gloucester. \nThe origin of this holiday goes back to 1925\, when representatives from different countries met in Geneva\, Switzerland\, to convene the first “World Conference for the Wellbeing of Children”. There was no specific day recommended\, however\, many countries – including Poland – established 1st June as The International Children’s Day. This day is not as commonly known in Great Britain\, which is why Polish Association Gloucestershire have decided to familiarise the people of Gloucester with this fun event\, hoping it will become a permanent fixture in the local cultural calendar.\n \nInternational Children’s Day will take place on Saturday\, 1st June at Gloucester Park between 12 pm and 5 pm. The organisers have prepared lots of attractions\, as well as a rich cultural program. \nBouncy castles\, rides\, face painting and a falconry show are just a few of the activities awaiting children at the park. Entertainment will be provided by the theatre group TeArtico\, Non-Stop Kids Entertainment Ltd.\, mascots from Buffoo Celebrations and Mascots and well-known characters from Enchanting Story Book Parties. Also\, it wouldn’t be a traditional British party without Punch and Judy making an appearance! \nYou are warmly invited to celebrate this wonderful day with us! \nThe event is co-financed by the National Lottery Community Fund and supported by Gloucester City Council\, Marketing Gloucester\, Gloucester BID and Polish Store Biedronki.

There are live music stages featuring an eclectic selection of local bands and singers as well as the return of the essential Gloucester Shanty Festival. \nGloucester’s flagship festival continues to be a huge hit with families\, coach groups and ship enthusiasts\, drawing audiences from around the country\, with 200\,000 people expected over the bank holiday weekend. DESCRIPTION:Welcome to the City of Gloucester 10k Run in the beautiful and historic city of Gloucester\, in the South West of England.  The real beauty of this challenge and although it is a City 10K Run this event is for runners of all abilities charity\, recreation runners\, club runners\, and Elite athletes. \nThe course is flat and fast and gives participants the chance to try for a personal best time whilst enjoying a spectacular sightseeing tour.  Taking place in the summer\, the City 10k Run gives the perfect excuse for friends and family to cheer runners on.  This is an opportunity to visit the historic cathedral\, or simply enjoy some refreshments after the race in a café or bar in Gloucester or visit the famous Gloucester Quays shopping center \nWe are also holding a  1.7K Children and Family Run at 08:30am followed by the City of Gloucester Wheelchair 10K Run at 08:55am  and then the City of Gloucester 10K Run at 09:00am  This includes the Corporate 10K Team Business Challenge. \nA great day out for all the children family and a chance for young budding athletes to race for the top spot\, in  the 1.7K Children Run also there is a family and Adult 1.7K Run this will take place before the 10K Race. The 1.7K sees children of all ages running with their mums\, dads\, uncles\, aunties and grandparents! Not just a race for children – for anyone who wants to take part in the event day but perhaps isn’t quite ready for a 10K race; the 1.7K is there for you to get involved! All those who register and take part will receive a finisher’s medal. \nThe first three Individual Boys & Girls  Under 11 years of age\, Under 13 years of age\, Under 15 Years of age. Will receive a special plaque. \nTeam Spirit. Friendly Competition. All round Fun. \nThe Team challenge is open to all abilities and aims to bring people together for a sense of team spirit and to enjoy our fun summer race through \nthe City of Gloucester for the first year we are looking to develop the challenge for Corporate Teams\, it’s a chance to bring work colleagues together for team building and strengthening friendships as well as encouraging a little competitive spirit.  We hope to see lots of corporate teams participating in the inaugurated City of Gloucester 10K Run which will be a friendly competition and team spirit we welcome teams to join in the fun. All proceeds will help fund the ABF: The Soldiers’ Charity and Alabaré’s Gloucestershire Homes for Veterans.

DESCRIPTION:Gloucester Cathedral is delighted to be hosting a very special centenary performance of Holst’s much-loved Planets Suite\, in the composer’s own county Cathedral. \nThe Cheltenham Symphony Orchestra will be conducted by Gloucester Cathedral’s Director of Music Adrian Partington in what will be a roof-raising concert of light and sound. The Cathedral’s own Girl Choristers will perform the famous ethereal ladies’ chorus that ends the suite. \nThe concert will begin with a performance of Sir Edward Elgar’s Cockaigne Overture. \nWritten at the end of WW1\, during which Holst spent time working with troops at Salonica\, the Planets Suite is an apt start to the Cathedral’s autumn programme of events commemorating the end of the war. \nLaura Kinnear\, Curator of the Holst Birthplace Museum\, will deliver a pre-concert talk in the Lady Chapel at 6.00pm\, covering her research into Holst’s war work and the ongoing Salonica exhibition at the Museum. \nThe Sauret Strad returns to Gloucester … \nThe programme will also include fellow Gloucestershire composer Vaughan Williams’s Lark Ascending\, frequently named as one the Britain’s favourite classical works\, and composed as a response to WW1. We are thrilled that rising star Nazrin Rashidova will perform the violin solo in this work\, and even more so that she will be playing it on the 1685 Sauret Stradivari.
