UPDATE: A 17-year-old boy from Gloucester has been arrested on suspicion of assault – wounding. A 15-year-old girl from Gloucester has been arrested on suspicion of theft. They both remain in custody for questioning.

 

Detectives are appealing for witnesses after a teenager sustained a stab wound during an assault in Gloucester.

The incident happened at around 11pm on Friday 20 January on Painswick Road, near to Eastern Avenue.

There was an altercation between a group of people when the victim, a 17-year-old boy, sustained a stab wound to his back. His mobile phone was also stolen after it fell out of his pocket.

He was taken to Gloucestershire Royal Hospital where he received treatment. The injury was not life threatening and the victim has since been discharged from hospital.

We understand an incident of this nature can cause concern for the local community, but this is thought to be an isolated incident with no risk to the wider public.

Anyone who witnessed the incident is urged to come forward, in particular a man who was driving a Ford Focus and stopped to speak to the victim. Call 101 quoting incident 521 of 20 January to provide information.
