The A48 at Minsterworth will be resurfaced overnight next month.

The main road running through Minsterworth village is being resurfaced from Monday 15th October to Wednesday 31st October. To minimise disruption on this busy route, the work will take place between 7pm to 7am each week night (excluding weekends) with a full road closure.

The stretch of road in need of repair is part of the main route from the A40 south to Westbury-on-Severn and Lydney. A diversion suitable for all type of vehicles will be in place. Your highways crews will complete resurfacing over 29,333m² of road with approximately 3,451 tonnes of material.

Cllr Vernon Smith, cabinet member for highways and flood, said: “As part of our £150 million promise, we are continuing to invest in our local roads and keep our county moving. By carrying out these works at night we will keep disruption to a minimum.”

Cllr Phil Awford, county councillor for Highnam, said: “I’m really pleased that we’re now able to include the A48 Minsterworth in the resurfacing programme. This scheme has been long awaited and will be welcomed by the local community here in Minsterworth. The resurfacing will mean road users benefit from improved driving conditions into the future, and I’d like to thank local residents for their patience while the work is carried out.”

What’s the diversion route? (suitable for HGV’s)

From the west of the closure, take the A48 and turn right onto A4151 then continue along B4226 turning right onto B4227 (Valley Road) and then turning left onto A4151 (Steam Mills Road). At Nailbridge, at the junction with the A4136 turn right and follow the road via Plump Hill, Mitcheldean and Longhope to the junction with the A40. Turn right and take the A40 towards Gloucester. At the Higham Court roundabout take the second exit and follow the A48 to the closure point. Diversion is the same in reverse.
