Chance to give views on the future of King’s Quarter

People across Gloucester are being given another chance to share their views on the future of Kings Quarter.

Following the success of the first drop-in event, members of the public are invited to a second event on Friday 9th September and Saturday 10th September.

The drop-in will be held at Unit 11 of Grosvenor House. On Friday, people can drop into anytime between 10am – 7pm and on Saturday the doors will be open between 9am – 1pm.

The purpose of the drop in events is for members of the public to view the proposals for the future of Kings Quarter, and let the council know what they think about it.

This is the second consultation event on this topic and will be the last chance to comment on the first stage proposals. Kings Quarter is the space opposite the new bus station.

Proposals for it include a car park, retail and residential space and community space. In order to get the best possible feedback from the drop-ins, Gloucester City Council will be displaying detailed drawings of the proposals and asking members of the public to comment on them. Officers will be on hand to answer any questions that people may have.

Anyone who is unable to attend this event can visit www.gloucester.gov.uk to view the plans and fill in an online consultation form.

Cllr Paul James, cabinet member for regeneration and leader of Gloucester City Council, said: “We were really pleased with the amount of people who took the time out of their day to come and tell us their thoughts on the Kings Quarter redevelopment. The feedback we received was really insightful.

“It’s really important that we hear the thoughts of local people on the regeneration of Kings Quarter and we’re hopeful that this second event will see even more people drop-in. After all, Gloucester is the city that they’ve chosen to live in so we want to make sure it reflects the vision they have for it, too.”
