Latest information from Gloucester City Council.

We are working hard to get all of the systems up and application platforms running to open up our discretionary restart grant scheme by 18:00 tomorrow – Wednesday 12 May 2021.

There will be an application window which will open tomorrow and will close at midnight on 23 May 2021.

During this time we invite applications from the following eligible categories:

  • Group travel and Tour Operators
  • Other tourism businesses including B&B’s and event industry suppliers
  • Breweries and nightclubs
  • Non-Business Ratepayers that are predominantly reliant on delivering in-person services for the general public in hospitality, accommodation, leisure, personal care and gym businesses.
  • Local businesses that are pubs, bars, restaurants, cafes, hotels or guesthouses that serve food and/or drinks to customers at the premises and are either required by law to remain closed until 17 May or 21 June or who are able to open from 12 April but are only able to serve customers outside
  • Freelance and mobile businesses including, but not limited to:
    • Caterers
    • Events
    • Hair
    • Beauty
    • Wedding related businesses
    • Market Traders
    • Driving Instructors
  • Supply chain to hospitality, leisure and tourism

Please note we will not make any grant payments (or decide final award amounts) on this scheme until AFTER the closing date and the claims have been processed.

This is a very difficult scheme to manage as we genuinely do not know what the potential uptake of the scheme will be, we have no idea how many applications we may receive and therefore reserve making a decision on grant amounts until after we know how many potential eligible applicants we might have.  There is a maximum grant amount and that is £2k / £4k or £6k depending on RV or attributable costs.  As with the national restart grants, the pre-payment checks for these grants will be more robust and will take a little more time.

The scheme is only open from tomorrow (Wednesday 12 May 2021) until a week on Sunday so we need to advise as many as we possibly can within that time.
