Gloucester Cathedral has announced the arrival of a new music team member in September 2019.

Mary Pan comes to Gloucester from Chicago and will make history as the Cathedral’s first ever female organ scholar.

Mary was organ scholar in the busy music department of Saint James Cathedral (Episcopal) for the last two years. While there, she enjoyed accompanying the highly regarded cathedral choir, which sings under the direction of Stephen Buzard. Mary is a graduate of Yale School of Music and Institute of Sacred Music. Prior to Chicago, she served as organist and organ scholar at a number of churches in Connecticut and New York, including the historic Grace Church in New York City.

Mary will succeed Christopher Too, who will join King’s College, Cambridge later this year to continue his studies following a hugely successful year as organ scholar at Gloucester Cathedral.
