Gloucester City Homes (GCH) staff have raised over £500 plus donations of over 300 daily items for those less fortunate over the Christmas period.

The £500 has been used to buy clothing essentials, sanitary products, toiletries, food essentials and confectionery items. These items were delivered to Gloucester City Mission on Monday 17th December ahead of the festive period which sees many people in need of basic essentials.

The items have been split into two so that more can be delivered in the New Year.  Emma Ball, who helped coordinate the collection commented: “In addition to our Christmas donation, we recognise that Homelessness is an ongoing issue and in light of this, we will be making a further donation in the New Year, as the temperatures often drop, and the need for food and warm clothing increases”.

The second fundraising scheme was a reverse advent calendar, where staff donated specific items for 12 days which were delivered to GCH’s charity of the year ‘The Nelson Trust’ on Thursday 20th December. The items donated each day included shower gels, small make up items and pot noodles for the women who use the centre in Brunswick Square.

Jo Fear, Manager of the Gloucester Women’s Centre added “We are extremely grateful for this very generous donation from the staff at GCH.  They continue to support us in the work that we do to support women from across Gloucestershire and it makes a huge difference for them to know that people care.”
