The A417 St Oswalds Road will be resurfaced overnight from Monday 15 October as part of the county council’s £150m investment into Gloucestershire’s roads.

St Oswalds Road is a busy route close to Kingsholm Stadium and will be resurfaced due to it reaching the end of its life expectancy. Every effort is being taken to minimise disruption, so the road will still be open during peak times.

The road will be closed overnight for 4 weeks between 15 October to 15 November (excluding Saturday and Sunday nights) between the hours of 7pm – 7am. A diversion suitable for all type of vehicles will be in place. Crews will complete vital resurfacing over 19,026m² of road with approximately 2,238 tonnes of material.

Cllr Vernon Smith, cabinet member for highways and flood, said: “I’m determined to deliver on our promise to invest £150 million into Gloucestershire’s roads and this is yet another major resurfacing project on a well used stretch of road. St Oswalds Road is a popular route in Gloucester and I know we’ll all benefit from the new smooth road surface once work is complete. By carrying out the resurfacing overnight we will keep disruption to a minimum. I’d like to thank residents and businesses for their patience while we carry out this work.”

The works will be carried out in two phases to maintain access to the St Oswalds Retail Park for customers and residents. Further updates on the start of phase 2 will be available via our social media channels and updated signs on site. Keep up to date with works and road closures near you by following @GlosRoads on Twitter and Facebook.
