Views to be sought on Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service by Shaun Moore | Gloucester News Centre - http://gloucesternewscentre.co.uk/
Residents in the county are set to be asked to give their views to help shape the future of Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service (GFRS).
Consultation will take place on the Fire and Rescue Service’s Community Risk Management Plan (CRMP) 2022-2025 over an eight-week period from 1 October to 26 November 2021.
The CRMP is an assessment of risks to life and how effectively resources are used to address those risks. All fire and rescue services have to produce a CRMP every three years as a minimum.
It has been developed following feedback from a four-week pre-draft consultation in February this year.
That survey received 264 responses, with 63 per cent of people saying they were fairly or very satisfied with GFRS. Seventy per cent tend to agree or strongly agree that GFRS provides good value for money, with the majority (75 per cent) feeling either fairly or very confident that an effective service overall was provided.
The draft plan outlines eight key objectives for GFRS which will be delivered during the three-year life of the plan, to include prevention, protection, response activities and use of data and technology.
It also sets out to improve the Service’s inclusive culture, to ensure it attracts and develops a diverse workforce and emphasises the importance of collaborating with partners.
The county council’s cabinet will be asked to approve the content of the draft plan at a meeting next Wednesday (22 September), following which a consultation survey will be launched on 1 October to gather the views of the public.
Chief Fire Officer Mark Preece said: “We want to hear from the public to establish how we can improve and shape our activities over the next three years. Planning for the future of Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service is extremely important and public feedback will ensure we continue to improve.”
Cllr Dave Norman, cabinet member with responsibility for the Fire and Rescue Service, said: “Your views are really important to enable Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service to continue the great progress it has made. I would encourage everyone to participate in the survey, when it is launched, to help shape the future of the Service.”
