Louisa Phoenix
Bridge Training Ltd
Louisa Phoenix is a fully qualified Careers Adviser and Careers Leader with over 20 years of experience working with teenagers in Gloucester. Throughout her career in education, she has been dedicated to supporting young people in navigating their career paths and personal development.
In her role at Bridge Training Ltd, Louisa frequently engages with young people about their interests and activities outside of formal education. She firmly believes that while academic achievement is important, the experiences and opportunities young people pursue in their spare time play a vital role in building the skills and confidence needed for success in all areas of life.
In recent years—particularly in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic—Louisa has observed a decline in youth participation in extracurricular activities. Increasingly, young people speak in the past tense about hobbies they once enjoyed, such as sports or creative pursuits, often expressing uncertainty about how to reconnect with those interests.
In response to this issue, Louisa came up with the idea for ReFresh—an initiative designed to re-engage young people with the wealth of opportunities available to them in Gloucester. ReFresh aims to challenge the notion that “there’s nothing to do in Gloucester” by highlighting the many free or low-cost activities and organisations that exist to support and inspire young people.
Through ReFresh, Louisa hopes to empower young people to rediscover their passions, build new skills, and connect with their community in meaningful ways.
“ReFresh is all about reigniting the enthusiasm of Gloucester’s young people by showcasing the wide range of opportunities available to them… ReFresh is designed to break down those barriers and inspire young people to engage, grow, and connect with their community.”

ReFresh is a great starting point for any young person wanting to find something for them in this city. Whether it’s education and training or volunteering and socialisation, or a mixture of all of the above. It can be overwhelming, and we hope that bringing this event into Kings Square we can make it more accessible, with a little bit of fun thrown in.
