Since the YES vote, we’ve been working hard to improve street cleanliness across the city.

Over the past year we’ve been working in partnership with Gloucester City Council to improve street cleanliness and make Gloucester a much more appealing place to live, work and shop.

We’ve had our city protection officers out on the streets keeping in direct contact with the Cleaning Squad to deal with any incidents and waste issues. Since implementation street litter has dropped approximately 60%, meaning the council have been able to relieve a litter picker from the gate streets to be able to focus on the areas that need extra attention.

We’ve brought in a ‘gum zapper’ and have made great progress with removing chewing gum from the streets, giving them a much cleaner and smarter look. This is currently being used to clear up the existing gum in the city centre, then used regularly for maintenance.

We’ve been to watch demos of new equipment being tested, looking at ways to wash the streets easily and regularly, especially as we prepare for next summers flowering which is set to be bigger and more beautiful than ever.

As we look forward to the digital screens being installed around the city over the next few months, and a big screen installed in Kings Square we’re thrilled to see the streets looking smarter than ever as Gloucester starts to shine.

We would like to thank Gloucester City Council for their continued support, creating a safe and cleaner city.
