Highlights for the Month

• 1^st– The new team for Kings Square, Transport Hub, Underpass, London Road has now started and is building relationships and in the north part of the city area.
• The city team attended the My Patch meeting with the police, which was beneficial in passing on information and coming up with ideas to make the city safe.
• Assisted the police in locating and dealing with several incidents involving people with mental health problems.
• Removed several groups of drinkers from public areas due to them being loud and abusive to members of the public.
• 2^nd – Street people still out on the streets during the cold spell, these individuals were also begging on the streets, some quite aggressive when people do not give money.
• The team attend to a first aid incident when an elderly male had fallen over, no injuries just a bit shook up. He walked off after a little rest and support from the CPOs.
• Called by CCTV to monitor a male who had entered a store, police finally caught up with male at his vehicle in the car park.
• Called to the City Museum to a report of a male who was acting strangely, he was washing his feet in the canteen and trying to sort out blisters, even after being asked not to. This male was escorted to the bus stop and monitored until he left.
• 3^rd– Large group of street drinkers spoken to and removed from the graveyard in Mary de Crypt again.
• Three males who were very drunk walking down Eastgate Street, one who has a civil injunction banning him from the city centre. Reported for this breach.
• Spoke to and moved on several people sat in the city begging and harassing members of the public.
• Attended to a female who was in Long smith’s carpark, a member of the CPO team kept her talking until police arrived to take over.
• 4^th– Removed a known individual from the city area, he was trying to coerce members of the public to buy a magazine, this was being done aggressively, he was also intoxicated. He was advised to leave the city until he was in a better frame of mind.
• Two individual who have CBOs and injunction banning them from being in the city. Both had the rules explained to them again and told to leave the area. Both were also reported for the breaches.
• Police were informed about a female who spoke with the CPOs, a cause for concern was raised due to some of the things she had disclosed. The police stopped her later and spoke with her and she was assisting in getting support.
• 5^th– Spoke with and removed street drinkers from the graveyard area, also from the gate streets.
• A known shoplifter was deterred from removing items from a city safe store and this individual was then removed. This incident will be added to his profile on DISC.
• Three young male shoplifters were stopped with items from different stores. After talking to the young lads all were under the age of 16 years old. The store that had detained them refused to call the police but called one of the groups parents.
• 6^th– An individual who has an injunction not to be in town was breached. This male was advised to leave as he was very drunk.
• Several people sat on the gate street begging, after talking to them and advising them to leave, they refused and were added to DISC and reported.
• 7^th The city safe team carried out a shopping operation to deter shoplifting. The day went very well with some of the known individuals being spoken to about being in stores when they were banned.
• First aid given to a male who had fallen over in the Kings walk car park. An ambulance was called, but after two hours a friend offered to take him to A&E in his car.
• A large group of teenagers were removed from Mc Donald’s after walking in with their own drinks and food. After explaining this is not accepted, they left.
• 8^th– Assisted with crowd control outside of the new Primark during the opening of the store. Removed a few known people who are banned from city safe stores from the queue.
• Welfare issue with a known female as she was sat outside shivering. She was walked into Eastgate shopping centre to warm up with a cup of tea.
• First aid issue, a male collapsed outside of a store on Station Road. CPO team administer CPR until the helimed doctor and paramedics arrived.
• Called to a city safe store to identify an individual from CCTV images who had been stealing from the store. This person was known. The store called 101 and was added to DISC.
• 9^th– A male was removed from an area as he was found to be trying to kick open a door to a bike shed. As there was no damage caused, so he was allowed to move on.
• Police CCTV asked the CPOs to go and check the train station area for a male who was wanted, this male was picked up by the police in the Transport Hub.
• Five people warned about begging in the city, camping out wrapped up in blankets with containers in front of them. Physically asking for money. All were housed and receiving benefits by their own admissions.
• 10^th– Street beggars moved on from public locations due to complaints from businesses and public in relation to aggressive begging. All are going to be reported on DISC.
• A female shoplifter who was deterred was removed from a store after becoming extremely aggressive towards staff.
• A Male was removed from an eating place after becoming verbally aggressive towards staff members.
• A first aid incident, an elderly 95-year-old male had fallen over at the cross. He was in great pain after banging his right hip on the floor, an ambulance was called but waiting time was for over an hour. This male was made as comfortable as possible after an offer to take him to hospital in a car. The male could not move to sit in the car, the ambulance finally arrived, and he was taken to A&E.
• 11^th Helped cover the Santa Fun run, assisted with crowd control and route marking for the runners.
• A large group of teenagers removed from Eastgate Street for doing noz gas, asked to pick up all the rubbish (cannisters).
• Called to check a stores CCTV from a theft from earlier, no ID made as picture quality not good enough.
• A group of three people were removed from a public area, they were having an argument, but the swearing and their behaviour was not acceptable as children and youngsters were around. CCTV informed.
• Assisted paramedics with a female who had fallen over in the market area.
• 12^th– Two street drinkers were removed from the area of the transport hub, they were drinking and smoking cannabis.
• First aid incident, assisted with a female who had taken an overdose and called an ambulance, stayed with this female until the ambulance crew took over the incident.
• Two males deterred from dealing in a car park on Great Western Road, CCTV informed of all information relating to this incident.
• 13^th First aid incident, a male had fallen over near Boots, he had cut his hand. The wound was cleaned and dressed. He then went on his way with advice to check with a doctor about a tetanus jab.
• First aid incident, a lady fell over a paving stone on Westgate Street, she had hurt her arm and was in a lot of pain. Her Husband was with her, she refused the offer of an ambulance and wanted to go home. She was aided to the carpark, and they drove home.
• Welfare case, a male with learning issues was having a melt down and was ranting in the street. After talking to him he calmed down enough to get a phone number of a carer. Also, a friend of his came along and sat with him until he was picked up.
• Welfare incident, assisted with a missing male who had walked away from people who were looking after him, found very quickly and returned to carers.
• First aid incident, a male tripped over a paving slab on Eastgate Street and banged his face. He was taken into Eastgate shopping centre and cleaned up, bad grazing on face but able and willing to walk off with his wife.
• 14^th– Removed beggars from public areas where there were a lot of youths winding them up.
• Two people were removed from a public area for arguing very loudly and being aggressive towards each other. They were separated and both parties walked away.
• Welfare incident, a male who is currently classed as homeless informed CPOs he had tested positive for Covid 19, P3 and Council informed, also, CCTV informed.
• 15^th– Call to assist a city safe store, a male and female had taken items from the store and had left the premises, after checking with the CCTV footage it turned out to be students as the ID badges were showing. Police informed and will investigate.
• A fly tipping report was raised and reported due to electrical items being dumped in Nettleton Road area.
• An incident was reported by Kings Walk security at Russel Street, CPOs checked in with potters Place and the incident involved two families. Police were called by them, and they took over the incident.
• 16^th– Called to intervene with two people arguing over a phone, after speaking to both parties the phone is given to the male, and he walked off out of the area. The female claimed to be the lad’s mother.
• First aid given to a male who had fallen out of a wheelchair whilst riding down a slope. Minor cuts and grazes only. He continued with his day.
• Conducted a search for a missing male, he was found quickly, and incident was closed.
• A Male was reported stealing from a city safe store, this male was located, and all items retrieved and returned to store. The male was reported to police and incident added to DISC.
• A Male was stopped on Eastgate street, after a report he had a Pistol in a bag, after checking the weapon was found to be an air Pistol replica, Police informed of all of his details.
• Two individuals, a male and female who have a CBO were removed from a store for shoplifting and goods taken from them, both reported to the police and added to DISC.
• 17^th Called to assist in a city safe store with two males who were caught in the act of stealing and concealing items, all items returned, and the males removed from the store.
• Located a venue where a lot of the street drinkers were hiding in, this information was passed onto the police and solace.
• Welfare incident with two young females who were being chased around the city by another group of teenagers. The females were taken to a place of safety and one of the parents were called who picked them up.
• 18^th– Two female shoplifters detained, store items from several stores retrieved, PCSO attended, and they were both processed by the CPOs for yellow card and by police system.
• Two 11-year-old girls caught in store with a bag full of clothing and attempting to leave without payment. Both girls’ parents were called to pick them up.
• Spent time searching for a male who had gone missing, this male was located and reunited with his family.
• CPOs attended a shoplifting incident where the offender had assaulted the security guard, the person was caught but managed to escape before the police arrived. All details were passed to the police.
• 19^th– A large group of street drinkers were moved on from a public area due to the noise level and some of them urinating in front of the public.
• Called to check a stores CCTV footage to try and identify some shoplifters who had hit the store the previous day. All information passed to police and added to DISC.
• A Shoplifter was stopped by the CPOs and stolen goods retrieved; the store will add all details onto DISC.
• A large group of females and younger girls were deterred from shoplifting, also switching price tickets on items. They were asked to leave the store.
• 20^th The CPO teams were given the task of distributing new council window stickers reference the changes in the Covid 19 guidance.
• A male who was under the influence of drink was spoken to as he was getting aggressive with people passing him, he was warned he would be arrested if he continued, he left the city area.
• A male was escorted back to the hospital as he claimed he had walked out but needed to get back as he was still on medication.
• A female shoplifter was caught stealing and tried to fight the security guard to get away. She was detained and all details recorded, and added to her profile on DISC.
• 21^st The CPOs conducted a shop operation where one of the officers went in plain clothes to deter shoplifting in the city safe stores. This proved highly effective and some of the main known people were spoken to during the day.
• A young Male was spoken to again today regarding his behaviour towards a certain store, the police have been informed of this and will be speaking with him shortly
• A first aid incident dealt with in the train station underpass, a female had tripped over and hurt her hand and arm, CPO assisted, and the lady was walked to A&E as she was making her way towards that area.
• A Busker who had spent the best part of four hours in the same area was requested to move as the stores had started to complain, he refused initially but packed up shortly after.
• 22^nd CPOs spoke with a male who was drunk in the city, he was being rude to strangers and making comments which were offensive. He was advised to leave the area which he did.
• A shoplifter was stopped by the CPOs and all items recovered, and the female was returned to the store. After items were checked against receipts, the unregistered items were returned to the original owner stores, all details added to DISC.
• 23^rd The CPOs conducted a shoplifting operation today with a CPO in plain clothes, after deterring several shoplifters during the day the word must have gone out as it was a peaceful afternoon.
• A Male was removed and spoken to about his behaviour towards the staff in one of the Shopping Centres, he asked to be allowed back into apologise. He then left the city area.
• Two males removed from a city safe store for playing up and being aggressive towards staff.
• 24^th Welfare incident, after talking to a female in distress the female was escorted to the Woman’s centre at Brunswick square.
• A shoplifter was stopped By CPOs and all stolen items retrieved, a bag belonging to the shoplifter was left behind as they had walked off. This bag was taken to the reception at Bearlands police station.
• A driving licence was handed into a CPO, and as it was in the local area was hand delivered to the owner.
• 25^th No report delivered today
• 26^th No report delivered today.
• 27^th A Known shoplifter was passed through each store as she travelled through town. CPOs reminded them of their city safe ban, and they left the area.
• Dealt with groups of teenaged kids around town, nothing to serious, but complaints of noise and shouting.
• Four teenagers stopped at the train station for trying to jump the fence, they were made to pay for tickets from Stroud.
• 28^th CPOs spotted a wanted male, informed the CCTV of his location but told there was no. officers to pick him up.
• A male who has a civil injunction was seen in town, CCTV was informed, and a breach report put in.
• A male was causing an issue in town with a skateboard, after talking to him he was advised to go to the skate park.
• Several street beggars were spoken to about all the bedding and begging bowls they had out, all were checked and had been offered support previously.
• 29^th A female was stopped and checked as she had stolen items from several stores. All her details were taken and added to DISC.
• A Call for a missing male went out but he was found shortly afterwards.
• A Male was stopped by the CPOs as he was in possession of stolen items. The goods were retrieved and returned to the store. Details added to DISC.
• CPOs removed several containers of used fuel products away from a derelict building.
• 30^th A Shoplifter was stopped, and all stolen items retrieved and returned to the store. All details added to DISC.
• A male was removed from several pubs and train station, due to his offensive behaviour, he was extremely aggressive towards staff. He was removed from the city centre.
• Several street drinkers moved out of the area they were in as it was private land and drugs were being used. Police informed.
• 31^st Police make team aware of a known offender that is wanted, team make officer aware of possible location.
• Team speak with female that was reported to be urinating in alleyway, words of advice given and removed from area.
• Team assist PCSO with known offender who has offended in City Safe members store also with an active Criminal Behaviour Order and was in breach, later arrested.
• Large Group removed from McDonald’s for Anti-social behaviour.
• Two known offenders stopped by team and items recovered and returned to store, store bans issued.
• Team assist PCSO with male causing issues in venue, male was verbally aggressive eventually left area on own accord.
