During the second quarter of 2025, Gloucester’s City Protection Officers (CPOs) continued to deliver a strong and proactive presence across the city, supporting public safety, welfare, and crime prevention efforts.
🔹 Key Achievements:
Responded to 220 Police CCTV incidents
Conducted 2,025 visits to businesses
Carried out 1,134 welfare checks
Recovered £4,610.48 in stolen goods
Addressed 463 anti-social behaviour (ASB) incidents
The CPOs operate 7 days a week, with coverage from 10am–6pm (Sunday–Thursday) and 8am–8pm (Friday–Saturday).

April 2025
High volume of welfare checks, including multiple interventions for vulnerable individuals.
344 street drinkers engaged, with alcohol confiscated and individuals moved from public areas.
Notable incidents included recovery of over ÂŁ500 in stolen goods from a single shoplifting case, mental health crisis support, and coordination with police on arrests.
May 2025
Strong business engagement with 706 visits and 374 welfare checks.
162 ASB incidents addressed, including fights and public disturbances.
Supported police and partner agencies in locating missing persons, crowd control, and managing intoxicated individuals.
June 2025
Continued proactive engagement with 630 business visits and 357 welfare checks.
Increased coordination with mental health services and community engagement officers.
Key interventions included deterrence and arrest of repeat offenders with Criminal Behaviour Orders (CBOs), and safeguarding support for vulnerable individuals.
🤝 Strategic Engagements:
Weekly multi-agency huddles with police, BID, council, and City Safe.
Active participation in Safer Streets and safeguarding sessions.
Ongoing collaboration with Gloucestershire Constabulary and city partners.
