Shoppers are invited to enjoy a special series of late-evening shopping every Thursday throughout December, as the city extends its festive welcome with independent retailers and creative studios staying open later in the run-up to Christmas.
To make the experience even more enjoyable, parking is free after 6pm in both Westgate and Hare Lane South car parks, giving visitors more time to browse, dine, and soak up the seasonal atmosphere.
Two of the city’s much-loved independent businesses in Gloucester’s Cathedral Quarter, Weirdsmith and the Gloucestershire Arts and Crafts Centre, will be opening their doors until 7pm each Thursday until Christmas, offering a unique opportunity to discover handmade gifts, local artwork, and one-of-a-kind creations crafted by local artists and makers.
Alongside these businesses, many of the city’s eateries will be open and ready to serve up a range of tasty bites and festive treats, perfect for enjoying after an evening of relaxed shopping; plus, the offering of late night gaming at Firestorm Games until 10pm every Thursday.
Visitors are also encouraged to check the social media pages of their favourite local businesses, as many may be announcing additional late-evening openings and festive events throughout December.
“Late-evening Thursdays are a great chance to support independent, artist-run businesses while enjoying the charm of the city centre during the festive period,” says Emily Gibbon, Gloucester Business Improvement District Manager “Why not take your time, explore local creativity, and enjoy a wonderful evening out?”
