Gloucester Tourist Information Centre has won the tourist information centre of the year award and the ‘Winner of Winners’ award, the top accolade of the night for their constant commitment to quality, excellence and innovation.

Gloucester TIC beat Bude, Bodmin, Taunton and Purbeck to the top spot at the award ceremony, which was held at Ashton Gate Stadium in Bristol.

The awards highlight the good work of the centre providing tourists and residents with information of the city in one central location, whilst promoting a host of leisure activities and events, such as the Tall Ships Festival and Frightmare.

The award ceremony was organised by Services for Tourism, an organisation that works with tourism boards and companies and promote the tourism industry. They organise the awards with the assistance of a team of mystery shoppers and judges.

Cllr Lise Noakes, cabinet member for culture and leisure said: “Gloucester TIC is so important because it provides residents and tourists with key information about the city, whilst also promoting local leisure businesses. It is fantastic that not only have we won the gold for the South West Tourism Awards, but that the team also won the top award of the night with the ‘winners of winners’ award.

“I am very proud of everyone in the team who has worked so hard to provide such a fantastic service. Gloucester is a great place to visit, and we have a fantastic tourism service that helps highlight that.”
