We need you to join the city’s bold bid to make festive history this December.

Gloucester is no stranger to making headlines and this December, the city is tuning up for another historic moment. Dave Purchase, aka “Mr Toasty”, will lead a 40+ hour non-stop Christmas Song Marathon Challenge, aiming to bring another Guinness World Record to Gloucester and shine a national spotlight on the city’s festive spirit and community pride.

Starting at Midnight on Thursday 11th December 2025, the historic Warehouse 4 at Gloucester Brewery, Gloucester Docks, will transform into a hub of holiday cheer and musical endurance. The event will crescendo with a spectacular Finale aboard the Kathleen & May at approximately 6:45pm on Friday, uniting the community in celebration and song.

This isn’t just a record attempt, it’s a rallying cry to put Gloucester back in the record books and raise vital support for a beloved maritime icon.

And we need your help! Volunteers are needed to be part of this World Record!

To meet Guinness World Record requirements, we need two official witnesses present at all times to log song timings and breaks. Volunteers are urgently needed, especially overnight.

If you can spare even one hour, please email with your name, contact number, and availability. Hot drinks and snacks provided!

Whether you lend your voice, your time, or simply spread the word, your support will help Gloucester shine on the world stage once again.
