Gloucester is set to come alive on Small Business Saturday, as Gloucester BID hosts a festive celebration designed to draw families, shoppers and visitors into the heart of the city.
The Festive Fun event will “activate” Westgate Street with a Christmas Create & Make session for children, facepainting, a cheeky elf and entertainment, including Gloucester Excelsior Band. Plus, you can win a prize on the Shine a Light on Local ‘Spin to Win’ wheel. All aimed at showcasing and supporting the city’s vibrant independent business community.
Small Business Saturday is a nationwide campaign that shines a spotlight on small and independent businesses across the UK, encouraging people to shop local and support the enterprises that help their towns and cities thrive. Gloucester BID is proud to champion this mission locally by creating a fun, family-friendly event that brings people into the city centre and highlights the huge variety of independents that make Gloucester unique.
Claire Knight, Marketing & Business Engagement Lead at Gloucester BID, said “Small Business Saturday is an important reminder of just how vital small and independent businesses are to the success and character of our beautiful city. We’re excited to bring Westgate Street to life with creative activities, entertainment and chances to win great prizes, while encouraging everyone to explore and support the amazing local traders that make Gloucester special.”
The event will take place at 49 Westgate Street, this Saturday, between 11am and 3pm, where they will be showcasing their ‘Shine a Light on Local’ initiative, taking place throughout December.
To further boost the city’s support for Small Business Saturday, Gloucester City Council is offering free parking throughout the day in its car parks on Westgate Street, Station Road and Hare Lane North, making it even easier for people to come into the centre and enjoy everything Gloucester’s businesses have to offer.
Gloucester BID invites families, shoppers and visitors to join the festivities, discover local gems, and celebrate the independent spirit that keeps Gloucester thriving.
