Local hospice charity, Sue Ryder Leckhampton Court, is seeking hands on support in Gloucester in its quest to raise awareness of the care it provides for people in the city, and help raise the £8,000 it costs to run its services every day.

The hospice is looking for collection tin coordinators in the city, which would involve identifying new shops, pubs, restaurants and other venues in and around Gloucester who can display a collection tin for their customers’ loose change and then collect them when they are full.

Charity tin collections are a vital stream of income for the hospice, as well as being an easy and effective way to raise awareness of what the charity does too.

Anyone over the age of 16 can apply to become a Sue Ryder Leckhampton Court volunteer, no matter how many hours they can volunteer.

Alysia Cameron-Price, Senior Hospice Fundraiser says, “”As Gloucestershire’s only inpatient unit providing specialist hospice care we already help many families in Gloucester, but we know there are more people in the city who could benefit from our support either in the hospice or in their own homes from our hospice at home nurses.”

“By having Collection Tin Coordinators in Gloucester it will make more people aware that we can offer them support in times of need, as well as raising some of the vital funds we need to keep our care going.”

“Last year we provided 125,000 hours of hospice care and supported 500 families, including families living in Gloucester.”

“It costs £8,000 a day to keep the hospice running and we can only raise the money needed to carry on providing this care with the fundraising and financial support of the very communities we care for.”

The hospice has an incredibly loyal and hardworking army of volunteers but needs more volunteers to help it raise the funds it needs to continue giving its vital support.

For anyone interested in the Collection Tin Coordinator role or organising their own fundraising activity, please contact Leckhampton.fundraising@suerydercare.org or call the Fundraising Team on 01242 246285.
