Man arrested on suspicion of Gloucester stabbing

A man has been arrested in connection with the stabbing of a man near the entrance to Gloucester Park on Monday night.

The victim, in his 20s, flagged down a passing motorist after he was stabbed in the hand and stomach close to the zebra crossing in the Park Road/Wellington Street area at around 7.30pm.

The motorist drove the man to Gloucestershire Royal Hospital and while it was initially believed the man’s injuries were been life threatening they are now deemed serious but not life threatening.  The victim is still recovering in hospital.

This morning a 23-year-old man from London was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm in connection with the incident. He remains in police custody at this time.

Police still want to hear from anyone who has information or witnessed the incident.
