Putting in a cultural shift by Shaun Moore | Gloucester News Centre - http://gloucesternewscentre.co.uk/
If you’re passionate about Gloucester, the arts and culture, then you could be the person the city needs.
As part of the city council’s cultural strategy, developed in conjunction with Arts Council England, Gloucester’s new culture board is looking for a chair and trustees to help shape the city’s cultural offerings.
The strategy was adopted in March, and is supported by a partnership of organisations made up of the city council, Marketing Gloucester, Gloucester Cathedral, University of Gloucestershire, Create Gloucestershire, Arts Council England and GUST.
One of the first steps for the strategy was to set up a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) to help put Gloucester on the cultural map.
We’re looking for an enthusiastic hard-working Chair and ten trustees to join the Board alongside one trustee representing the city council (currently Councillor Lise Noakes).
Cllr Lise Noakes, cabinet member for culture at Gloucester City Council, said: “Gloucester is clearly a city ‘on the up’ but we still have a long way to go to have the cultural offering that residents deserve.
“This is a fantastic opportunity for someone to come and shape the future of Gloucester’s cultural landscape.
“We want people that have a passion for the arts, culture and the city, to come in and help us put culture at the heart of the city.”
Following the appointments, there will be an informal meeting of the board at the end of October.
Applications details can be found via the city council’s website at http://www.gloucester.gov.uk/council/more/Pages/Gloucester-Culture-Board.aspx.
The closing date for applicants is Monday 19 September 2016.
