As the festive season approaches, retailers across the UK are joining forces to support the national #ShopKind campaign, reminding customers that kindness matters, especially at Christmas.
Christmas is one of the busiest times of the year for retail, and unfortunately, it is also a period when incidents of abuse and violence towards shopworkers typically rise. By supporting and amplifying the #ShopKind campaign next week, retailers aim to reinforce positive behaviour and highlight the vital role retail colleagues play during this demanding season.
“Christmas can be a busy and sometimes stressful time, but violence and abuse have no place in the retail sector,” said Emily Gibbon, Manager of Gloucester Business Improvement District. “This week, we’re reminding everyone ’tis the season to #ShopKind and treat retail workers with the respect they deserve.”
To help businesses spread the message, Christmas-themed #ShopKind assets have been created for use both in-store and across social media channels. These resources are designed to encourage supportive behaviour, reduce conflict, and celebrate the essential contribution retail workers make during the festive season.
Retailers are encouraged to share the #ShopKind message with their customers and colleagues, promoting a safer and more positive shopping environment for everyone.
