The ‘Shine a Light on Local’ campaign, running throughout December, is a heart-warming initiative that spotlights the businesses, charities, and local people who make Gloucester city centre truly shine.
This month, Gloucester BID are shining a light on local businesses in a special way, with a series of festive interviews and photoshoots featuring our giant Christmas bauble. From independent shops and much-loved eateries to inspiring community champions and charitable organisations, we’re celebrating the people who bring warmth, joy, and togetherness to the city throughout the festive season.
Alex McIntyre MP (Gloucester) says, “Local to me means community and creativity. By supporting our amazing local businesses we’re investing in the creativity that makes our community special. I’d really encourage everyone to support the Shine a Light on Local campaign this Christmas, whether that’s buying locally-made presents for your loved ones, shouting about your favourite local business online or leaving them a five-star review!”
Claire Knight, Marketing & Business Engagement Lead at Gloucester BID, says, “We’re incredibly excited to shine a light on all the wonderful businesses, charities, and local people who make Gloucester such a vibrant and welcoming city. This campaign is all about celebrating the stories behind the places we love; the independent retailers, the passionate business owners, and the community heroes who bring real heart to our high street.
We’ll be sharing these stories across our social media channels all month long. Follow us on Facebook and Instagram to see if your favourite local has been featured, and join us in celebrating the incredible individuals who help make Gloucester so special.”
