Design, build and race your own miniature ship in Discover DeCrypt’s Small Ships competition.
Love the Tall Ships? Fancy sailing yourself? Now is your chance. Alongside the Tall Ships this year Discover DeCrypt are running Small Ships. Race your miniature boat over a fathom (that’s 6′ to landlubbers) in a specially-designed course and record your speed. They will be offering prizes for design and speed in four age categories.
Discover DeCrypt be providing sea and wind (okay, it’s a big fan….), you bring the ships.
Rules:
- ships must be no larger than 18″ high, 12″ long and 8″ wide (sails furled)
- ships must be wind-powered (no motors!)
- entry open to all by donation (£1 per entry please)
- entries open Wednesday 1 June at 11.00am
- last entry Saturday 4 June at 3.00pm
- Prizes will be awarded for design and speed in four categories:
- Apprentice (primary school age)
- Able Seamen (secondary school age)
- Officers (adult under 50)
- Ancient Mariners (adult 50+)
Prizes will be awarded on Sunday 5 June at 2.00pm by our Mock Mayor of Barton, Hashim Norat. May the best mariner win!
