Summer Fun, and Cafe upgrade, at Robinswood Hill

There’s lots happening at Robinswood Hill in the school holidays.

The Café has undergone a lot of work this summer and the new seating area and landscaping are now open. On Wednesday 27th July the new menu will be introduced, meaning that you can get good food at reasonable prices for all the family. And to help celebrate the new menu, Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust’s annual programme of Summer Fun Days kicks off at Robinswood Hill with an eco-warrior themed programme of activities.

There is now an accessible and level seating area outside the café where you can sit and enjoy a coffee or something to eat. The new menu includes salads, fresh baguettes, toasted sandwiches, and a range of delicious cakes and ice cream. In the Summer, the café will be open from 8am until 6pm so looks set to become a fantastic meeting place for friends and family.

The Summer Fun day will start at 11:00 am. All the family are welcome, and should come prepared to be an eco-warrior for the day. There will a range of fun things to do, including a quiz trail where you get to learn more about how our waste affects the environment. There will be model-making where you can make wildlife from waste, so bring egg boxes and yoghurt pots of any type. and learn how to transform them into bugs and creepy crawlies. Temporary tattoos, badge making, wildflower pots, and much more are all on offer too.

‘It’s a great chance to learn more about Robinswood Hill,’ says Event organiser, Nicky Simpson. ‘The Summer Fun days are always popular, and we are looking forward to showing our supporters, old and new, all the work that has been going on to transform the Café area.’

Local Councillor and cabinet member for the city, Colin Organ, will be attending the event. ‘I am very pleased to be attending the Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust Summer Fun day at Robinswood Hill. It’s packed full of wild activities, and it’s so important that our young people get to have lots of fun while they learn about the importance of looking after our environment.’

The refurbishment has been made possible through the generous support of several funders including Grundon Waste management, a long time and generous supporter of Gloucestershire Wildlife trust, Santander SEDA, and the Percy Bilton Charity.
