Police have arrested two teenagers in relation to recent incidents in Kingsway.

It follows a number of reports over the last few days of young people from outside the area behaving in a threatening manner.

Additional patrols are now taking place throughout the days and evenings.

Members of the public raised concerns with officers on patrol yesterday afternoon (Monday 22 August) about youths gathering in spots around the estate.

Police had a positive conversation with a group of teenagers close to Kingsway Local Centre, explaining to them about recent issues and residents concerns.

Officers are heading to the car park at Kingsway Local Centre with the police engagement vehicle on Thursday (25 August) between 6pm and 8pm, to further listen to residents’ concerns and to offer additional support in reducing crime.

Two young people on an e-scooter were stopped by an officer on Portreath Way yesterday shortly after 3.30pm.

A 16-year-old from Gloucester has been arrested for possession of cannabis and possession of an offensive weapon. The e-scooter was also seized.

Last Thursday, a 16-year-old from Gloucester was also arrested for possession of an offensive weapon and making threats to kill.

It is understood that these incidents involve groups that are known to each other. However, the public are being urged not to put themselves in danger by intervening, but to call 999 if they see a crime taking place and if the offenders are present or nearby.

Anyone with CCTV or doorbell cam footage relating to any incidents is also asked to contact police.

The arrested teenagers have been released under investigation. The incidents will be referred to Children’s First. This is an approach of dealing with youths which is aimed at prevention of further offending, in line with Government legislation.
