A NEW addition joins the team at the Gloucester BID as a student from the University of Gloucestershire begins an internship, providing valuable work experience and networking opportunities.

Anjola Sulaiman is currently a student of the Communications, Public Relations, and the Media course at the University of Gloucestershire. She completed her undergraduate degree with a First Class in Law in 2020, and decided to further her studies with a masters degree after making a decision to change career paths, stemming from the joy she gained from her involvement in student media for three years during her undergraduate degree.

She remarks on her experience of the internship, saying, “Working at Gloucester BID has been an enlightening experience where I have had the opportunity to apply the theoretical knowledge my course provides. The experience as encouraged me to embrace creativity in carrying out tasks I have been assigned, while reinforcing confidence in my ability to execute my responsibilities. The team has been incredibly welcoming, and I am looking forward to learning and developing myself in the course of the internship.”

The internship began on the 26th of November 2021 and involves the launch and management of the Gloucester BID official TikTok account and creating content highlighting Gloucester businesses, with a focus on the promotion of the city of Gloucester.

Gloucester BID Manager, Emily Gibbon, said: “We are very excited to have Anjola as part of the team as it has been beneficial to have access to a younger voice to help build our audience. It will be a great opportunity to have her learn more about Gloucester during her internship.”

Working with a student intern is a signal of our commitment to investing in our community and we are excited to discover the great ideas to come.
