Officers in Gloucester are turning to the public for information after an assault at a pub in Gloucester.

A 28-year-old man was drinking at the Whitesmith’s Arms on Southgate Street at around 11pm on Saturday 2 July when he was hit from behind on the head, possibly with a bottle.

The victim staggered towards the door of the pub and then fell over. He had suffered a gash to the rear and top of his head and needed eight staples to close the wound at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital.

CCTV has been viewed and numerous inquiries carried out but police still need witnesses to come forward.
