The VRXPERIENCE rooms provide an exciting and accessible experience for people of all ages and abilities where you can play, race and experience virtual reality from just £5. Located on Southgate Street, the virtual reality experience centre aims to offer something for everyone: from soothing travel experiences to thrilling fully immersive competitive VR racing, roller-coasters and VR Escape Rooms.
Owner Marc Edden, who is hands-on in the business, opened VRXPERIENCE in November 2019. Marc purchased and installed every piece of kit in the building. Marc also designed the branding and website and runs the centre which is open seven days a week.
Since opening, the experience rooms have been very popular, with last half-term being the busiest week so far. Marc hopes to attract even more people in the run up to Christmas with people looking for gifts or fun experiences. He said, ‘We want people to have the best experience and here, there is lots of impossible stuff that you wouldn’t be able to explore in your front room.’
Experiences include: virtual reality gaming which is one of the most popular session types at VRXPERIENCE. Strap on a cutting-edge headset, grab a controller in each hand (they can even see your fingers move!) and you’ll have access to over 100 games and experiences which you can switch between at any time. You can also share a virtual reality headset with friends or hire more than one to play with or against them in virtual reality.
Or you could try virtual reality gun games. With the headset on, grab your VR Gun Controller and hold off hordes of dinosaurs, zombies, giant bugs, aliens or entire armies of soldiers as a team! These immersive experiences are full of action, you’ll need to work together to kill the enemies before they kill you!
For a less intense experience you could try virtual reality racing. In VR you look to your mirrors to see who’s coming, feel the feedback in the wheel and the seat, plus wind which increases as you drive harder. This is your chance to race around some of the world’s most famous tracks in some of the world’s fastest cars!
For a group experience, you could try a virtual reality escape room. Work together as a team of 2, 3 or 4 to complete these truly immersive experiences. Choose from over a dozen different premium virtual escape rooms. Escape a lost Egyptian pyramid, survive a haunted house, explore a jungle safari or even relive the events of Chernobyl.
Or you could have a go on your own on a 9d VR roller-coaster. These simulators allow you to ride roller-coasters even in Gloucester City Centre!
