Bright Nights, the illuminating family festival brightening up the dark nights, returns this Easter.
The popular programme organised by Gloucester City Council working with Gloucester BID and partners across the city is set to entertain over the Easter break.
Gloucester Park will host an evening of dance, comedy, storytelling, drumming and fire performers while The Venture in White City invites families to enjoy free food at its illuminated adventure playground.
Or head to Gloucester Food Dock, the new foodie destination celebrating regional food and drink, where a seven metre long light sculpture will be unveiled.
The Food Dock commissioned Stroud artist Jack Wimperis, who has made commissions for the likes of Damien Hirst and Jamie Oliver, to create the bespoke sculpture after seeing his creation The Birch Forest at the Guildhall.
At each of the events there’ll be a chance to gather round the beautiful fire pits inspired by nature and Gloucester landmarks, designed by the Robinswood Primary School pupils working with artist Felix Rowberry.
Councillor Andy Lewis, cabinet member for Culture and Leisure at Gloucester City Council, said: “Bright Nights has become a real fixture on our events calendar and has brought some exciting and most importantly fun events to our city. I hope that as many people as possible will come along and have some fun.”
Bright Nights Events:
- Thursday, March 21, 6.30pm – Gloucester Food Docks unveils an artwork by artist Jack Wimperis. This stunning light sculpture will illuminate Gloucester docks, while you enjoy delicious food from independent food and drink businesses.
- Saturday, March 23, 6-9pm – Gloucester Park Forum celebrates a season of change with dance, comedy, storytelling, drumming, fire performers. Food from The Venture Eats Well Wagon, and marshmallows from the café to roast on the fire. Meet at the bandstand, Gloucester Park.
- Wednesday, March 27, 6-9pm – Free night of food and play at the illuminated adventure playground at The Venture, Northfield Rd, White City.
- Friday, March 29, 6-10pm. – Enjoy a Jamaican national dish, ackee and salt fish, play a game of dominoes or dance with ska and reggae band Ya Freshness & The Big Boss Band at All Nations Community Centre, Chase Lane, Matson
