Highlights for the Month

  • 1stMissing child reported, CPO checked all local areas, the child was found inside a store and reunited with family.
  • CPOs were called to assist a store who was having problems with a male who was refusing to leave. On arrival the male was spoken too, and a resolution was arrived at for both parties. The male left the area.
  • 2nd A male was removed by the CPOs from the train station car park, this male was banging on car windows asking for money. The male was spoken to and added to DISC.
  • Two incidents of anti–social behaviour dealt with, one shoplifter stopped, and goods retrieved, and the other was a female begging on Eastgate Street. All details have been added to DISC.
  • Welfare check conducted at CCTV request, it seemed a female was being pulled and pushed into an alley way whilst in an argument with a male. Upon arrival both parties claimed they were in a relationship and both parties are known to CPOs. No further issues.
  • 3rd CPOs assisted in the arrest of a wanted male, police took the male after arresting him on warrant.
  • Welfare checks on a male who was unconscious on a bench in town. Due to the state of this male and the amount of alcohol drunk an ambulance was called. On arrival of the Ambulance crew the CPOs handed the incident over.
  • CPO team assisted the Station staff with three males who had not paid the correct fare and had been asked to leave the train. The three males had refused to leave, but paid the extra money being requested.
  • 4th Welfare checks conducted with all street beggars in town, all were asked to leave the areas they were in, most left but not all of them. These were added to DISC.
  • A drunk male who is known to CPOs was removed from a phone shop in town, after speaking with the male and storekeeper a compromise was arranged for both parties.
  • 5th Missing child searched for and found soon after going missing, CPOs reunited child with the parents.
  • Two incidents of shoplifting one was caught, and goods retrieved, details added to DISC, the other the person managed to evade being stopped by staff, added as ID sought onto DISC.
  • Spoke to and reminded several of the street beggars about the rules, some were moved on, but returned later. All information is being collected and documented.
  • 6th– CPO Monitored a number of known individuals around the city, also deterred them from entering city safe stores to shoplift.
  • Welfare checks carried out on two “homeless people” who were begging outside of a main store on Southgate Street. After explaining about begging is not allowed, they moved on from town.
  • CPOs stopped a fight from happening, some youths decided to try to humiliate and wind up a homeless male. The groups were separated and both parties warned, CCTV informed and will monitor both parties.
  • 7th CPOs attended several stores due to attempted theft of alcohol, not all were known but all incident details will be added to DISC.
  • Male detained for stealing, this individual had given false names on several occasions, so a PCSO was called to confirm his identity. All details were then added to DISC.
  • Welfare check conducted on a male who was having problems in a store, after talking to him he left and went home.
  • 8th Two welfare checks carried by CPOs, one lady was just having a really bad day but was ok, the other was guided towards the Cavern so she could speak with a qualified person.
  • A drunk male was spoken to at Kings square, he was protesting about racism. After explaining the public space protection order (PSPO) to him he decided to move on.
  • A Male was detained by the store security, the CPOs acted as support whilst he was yellow carded, and details added to DISC.
  • CPOs were called down to the docks area to speak with two young lads who had refused to leave the area when requested to by security. They had been in a public area playing loud music and talking very loudly. After speaking with them they decided they were turning the music off but decided to stay as it was a public area. The security guard was happy with this.
  • 9th CPO team attended an on my Patch meeting with the police at Bearlands Station.
  • Removed a persistent beggar from a local car park where he was tapping people windows asking for money. CPOs explained to him this was not allowed as he was scaring people.
  • Two people caught attempting to steal from a number of stores. All details recorded on DISC.
  • 10th Spoke with and removed a number of people begging in the centre of the city. All details collected and added to a report for the solace team.
  • Two young lads were removed from Eastgate street as they were trying to do skateboard tricks and endangering members of the public. They were advised to use a purpose-built area in the park.
  • Several very drunk street people were moved on from sleeping and causing issues around the city centre.
  • 11th Welfare checks carried out on a male who had claimed to have been beaten up the night before. After checking him over nothing serious but he was advised to report the attack to the police.
  • A group of males were removed from a café area due to them smoking weed outside.
  • Assisted the Quays security with a couple who had refused to leave a store after arguing with staff from a store over a refund.
  • 12th Spoke with several people who were begging around the city area, with a few new faces who have also started to beg, PCSOs were called as the new ones started to get aggressive at being told to move away from the area.
  • Attended a call regarding a male who had stolen clothing from a store who had run out and was getting into a car. The car was prevented from leaving and all the items retrieved.
  • 13th First aid incident where a male fell on an escalator stairway, some cuts and bruising but nothing serious.
  • Dealing with street beggars who have been causing some issues, camping out with blankets and bowls when they have rooms to sleep in.
  • Street drinkers moved away from the train station as they were getting quite loud.
  • 14th Dealing with a large influx of foreign street beggars who have turned up, these individuals would not engage and will not heed any warnings given to them about their behaviour, police informed and have gone round and spoke to them. The others are known to CPOs and were moved on as normal.
  • Attended one of the local pubs who were having issues with a couple of drunk males, CPOs tried to defuse the issues when police turned up, with an escalation of violence people were then arrested.
  • 15th Welfare check on a female who was fast asleep in a public area, it appears she had been removed from public transport for being drunk and whilst waiting fell asleep. After ensuring she was ok, she caught the next bus home.
  • Male removed from the bus station as he was smoking inside, after explaining it was not allowed, he stopped.
  • Moved on the usual street beggars and some of the new faces, this was after removing cardboard signs asking for money.
  • 16th One of our well-known female shoplifters was removed and deterred from entering city safe stores, she gave up and went out of the city.
  • A large group of street drinkers were spoken with on Southgate Street, asked to move on as they were getting quite loud. They moved off with no further issues.
  • Attended a store to try and identify a male who had attempted to steal, who when approached by the store staff began to try and punch them. He ran off before he could be detained.
  • 17th Reports of a missing girl, CPOs searched through all the known areas and all car parks, and all local areas.
  • Welfare checks conducted on a female who appeared to be in distress, after talking to her she looked confused and lost. After establishing where she was staying, she was taken home.
  • Street drinkers removed from the Kings square area as they were being very vocal and rude to the public.
  • Assisted the train staff with a male who had travelled and not paid for a ticket, after explaining all to him he paid at the station.
  • A female shoplifter was stopped, and a large bag of clothing and other items taken off her and returned to the store. All items had been stolen; all details added to DISC.
  • 18th Group of girls being chased for non-payment for incident, ran into several stores and caused a lot of issues for staff and members of the public were stopped and handed over to PCSOs to deal with.
  • Removed some teenaged lads from a food establishment for setting fire to bus tickets and throwing them around. After explaining the dangers of this type of behaviour they were asked to leave the area, no further issues with this group.
  • Due to high winds several buildings had slate roofs that were coming off onto public walkways, these were marked off and CCTV informed.
  • Removed several street beggars during the day.
  • 19th. Female shoplifter detained and all items retrieved. As this person is well known she received a further yellow card and a warning not to enter city safe stores, all details were added to DISC. Information also given to the police so an application for a CBO can be requested.
  • Youths were removed from the scaffolding on Westgate, after warning them of the dangers and implications of what they were doing they left the area.
  • CPOs were called and attended a fight that had broken out between a couple of males.  The fight was stopped and both males were sent in different directions.
  • A male was removed from where he was sleeping in a public toilet, he had been drinking.
  • 20th Two regular street beggars were moved on from a public area next to a cash machine, where they were harassing people taking cash out of the machine.
  • A Male was stopped from stealing items from a city safe store, all the details added to DISC and a yellow card warning given.
  • A male was reported for a breach of a banning order, all the information passed on to the police as he is a person of interest.
  • 21st Called and dealt with a store requesting assistance with a male who was being extremely aggressive to female staff, the problem was discussed, and a compromise solution was reached so the male left the area.
  • A large group of teenagers were moved on from a city safe area as they were inconveniencing customers by standing in doorways and making a lot of noise and being boisterous.
  • A Missing child was reported but found very quickly by CPOs and reunited with his parents.
  • 22nd A small group of lads were removed on request from a bus for vaping on the top deck, after being asked by the driver to stop they continued.
  • Welfare check conducted on a known female as she was looking unwell, after talking to her she was waiting for her prescriptions to be completed.
  • CPO teams assisted with a shoplifting incident, the male continued to argue with the security staff and told him he had a knife. He was moved away from the guard, and police were called who then detained the male.
  • CPOs assisted a male who had been involved in a fight in one of the pubs, he had sustained a few injuries but refused any treatment from CPOs or medical team.
  • Welfare check conducted on a female who had lost some personal items but was taking the loss badly. CCTV informed and relevant people informed.
  • 23rd A Shoplifter was identified from CCTV images, information was passed onto police and added to DISC.
  • One of our well-known females was reported as a cause for concern, report back if seen.
  • Spoke with a female who looked distressed, she was new to the area and needed information on where to get accommodation and food. All information provided and reported to P3 for a follow up meeting with them.
  • First aid incident dealt with, a male with a cut to his arm, he refused to say how it happened but treated by Security staff from Eastgate.
  • 24th A Training Day for all CPO staff, one went on a first aid revision course, the other members attended a mental health training day with staff from the Cavern.
  • 25th The farmers market was in attendance today, but it was causing issues with the large amount of delivery trucks driving through the cross. CPOs were acting as traffic control in slowing down and directing vehicles.
  • Complaints from members of the public about street drinkers using their cars to lean on in Long smith’s car park, CPO checked this and removed six drinkers from level 6 who were all drinking and using cars as drinking tables.
  • Called to check out a person who was unconscious at the docks area, after waking up the individual he became aggressive and decided to urinate over one of the CPOs and tried to assault the CPO. He was detained and police attended and arrested him.
  • 26th Called to check a stores CCTV to identify a shoplifter, all details were added to DISC.
  • Large group of teenaged lads removed from a carpark, complaints from members of the public, claiming they were going to climb down the front of the building.
  • First aid incident involving a drunk male who was found unconscious on a street bench in public, an ambulance was called, and he was taken to GRH.
  • Reported to the council of a fly tipping site, members of the public living in the area have reported it also.
  • Several street beggars moved on as occupying very public areas and camping out, all those removed do have places to go to and are housed.
  • 27th Large amount of goods snatched from the front of a store; two males ran out with armful of clothes.
  • First aid incident involving a female having an Epileptic fit outside of a pub. Ambulance was called and took over from CPOs.
  • Police informed about a vulnerable individual who is being used by the street people who take his benefit money which was due in today.
  • 28th Concern for welfare a known male staggering around and appears to have many bags and shopping with him. Police were called as he became very aggressive towards.
  • CPOs dealt with a male at the transport Hub who seems to be distressed, police were called to deal with this incident.
  • First aid incident dealt with a male had deliberately cut his arm, after giving first aid to sort out the injury he was advised to speak with a councillor at the Cavern, he made an appointment to see one that day
