Highlights for the Month

  • 1stCalled to a store to check correct identification on shoplifter.
  • Monitored known shoplifting offenders around the City deterring them from entering City safe stores.
  • 2ndCalled to assist with five incidents of shoplifting, items retrieved, returned, and yellow cards issued all details now on DISC reporting tool.
  • Street beggars removed from city locations and reported.
  • 3rd CPO team attended a multi-agency street aware meeting with regards to the street beggars and “homeless” people.
  • Called to attend to some issues involving two males having an argument and calling on others to get involved. Provided security to the city safe venue and stopped the fight from escalating.
  • 4th Called to assist with a shoplifter who was making threats towards staff in a city store. All information was passed onto the police as the offender had left prior to the arrival of the CPOs.
  • Carried out checks on charity workers for correct credentials (as per instruction from the council).
  • Carried out a search of the city for a missing person, who was later found safe and well.
  • 5th called to assist with several shop lifting offences throughout the day, all details will be on DISC.
  • Called by CCTV about a fire next to Clarks shoes, attended and managed to put the fire out. Two males arrested in connection to the fire.
  • 6th Attended a multi-agency anti-social behaviour meeting, along with the police.
  • Assisted stores with two shop lifting offences, items retrieved, all details added to DISC.
  • Assisted with a first aid incident, a female fell over and hit her head, first aid was given, and ambulance called.
  • 7th Monitored several known offenders around the city, deterred them away from city safe stores.
  • Monitored and reported known troublemakers around the town.
  • Female caught shop lifting, all details added to DISC.
  • 8th Called to a female caught shop lifting, dealt with the first time then caught again ten minutes later. Police called and she was arrested.
  • Male caught shop lifting yellow card issued and police attended.
  • 9th Called to attend a drunk aggressive beggar on Eastgate street, he refused to give his name so passed onto police team.
  • Also, another known male aggressively begging was moved of the gate streets, CCTV informed as to monitor his location.
  • 10th Called to assist with four male shoplifters one of whom made threats towards staff, they were seen to enter a vehicle, details and registration given to the police to follow up on.
  • Reported a breach of CBO all details entered onto DISC and CCTV informed.
  • 11th During a patrol around the BID area several beggars came to the attention of the CPOs. Information was gathered and these individuals moved on.
  • Shoplifter stopped in store, all items retrieved and information added to DISC.
  • 12th Called to assist with three separate shoplifting offences, where stores detained individuals, all goods have been retrieved, two were arrested by police. All details have been added to DISC.
  • Monitored groups of teenagers around the town trying to prevent any issues of ASB occurring.
  • 13thReported a breach of a banning order, all details reported to appropriate authority.
  • Had a big clampdown on the street beggars and removed them from several locations throughout the day.
  • Called to several cases of large groups of teenagers causing issues around town. Police called to one group who were then moved on.
  • Located a reported missing person and reported her safe to the police.
  • 14th Welfare carried on a young lad who was being bullied by a large group, this male was taken to a safe area and returned home.
  • First aid issue, CPOs assisted, cleaned and covered a small wound to a hand of a female who had fallen over, reassured until a friend collected her.
  • 15th Called to identify a male who had grabbed fragrances and rode off without paying for them. All details sent to the police and logged on DISC.
  • 16th Reported and observed a female breaking the conditions of her court order. All information has been logged and passed to the police.
  • Information passed to relevant agencies for the welfare of two individuals whose health appears to be deteriorating, concerns were raised.
  • 17th An individual has had his vendor licence to sell the big issue revoked due to inappropriate behaviour whilst carrying out this task.
  • Monitoring known individuals around the BID area who have caused ASB related issues for lots of stores and people.
  • 18th Called to an argument between two males, the situation defused, and both went their separate ways.
  • Deterred a shoplifting attempt in a city safe store, goods returned and details added to DISC.
  • 19th Known shoplifting offenders deterred from city safe stores.
  • 20th Removal of frequent street beggars who have started to sit around in the gate street areas (none of which are homeless).
  • Called to assist a store to remove a drunk male from their premises.
  • 21st Called to attend two city safe stores to identify shoplifters, no identification made but all details have been added to DISC.
  • Located a known prolific shoplifter who was wanted by police, information was passed onto police.
  • 22nd Information passed onto the correct agencies regarding a concern for welfare of one of the rough sleepers in the City.
  • Moved on an individual who was becoming an aggressive beggar, information passed to Police.
  • 23rd A well-known criminal who has been wanted for a log time was finally caught and arrested by police.
  • CPOs assisted with a first aid incident, ambulance was called and the male casualty was taken into care.
  • Several cases of shoplifting during the day by the same offender, who managed to evade the security, but identification was made and all details have been logged on disc, and given to the police.
  • 24th Called to identify a shoplifter in one of the city safe stores, the identification was made and details added to DISC and passed onto the police.
  • A young couple were deterred from shoplifting and passed onto CCTV to monitor around the town.
  • Called to speak to a flat owner who was playing very loud music on Westgate Street, after female had calmed down the music was turned off.
  • 25th Responded to a report of a shoplifter taking items from a city safe store, the female had left the premises however was stopped later and the items recovered and returned to the store.
  • Called to identify a shoplifter, a positive identity was made, and all details added to DISC.
  • It was noticed that the fire alarms had been activated in a city premises, CCTV was informed and called the fire service. The key holder turned up and checked through the building. Nothing was found and Alarms re-armed.
  • 26th A well-known individual was arrested by the police for a breach of a civil injunction against them entering the city centre.
  • Called to identify a shoplifter who had stolen alcohol but when confronted by a cashier he spat at him. This person was identified, and details passed to the police.
  • Called through a concern for welfare for an elderly male, police called to assess this male, he was allowed to take a bus home, but returned to town several other times during the day.
  • 27th Removed two beggars from the town centre.
  • Located and removed a known shoplifter from a city safe store, reported on DISC.
  • Called to break up an argument at the transport hub, male and female street drinkers both were removed from this area.
  • Located and assisted in the arrest of a wanted person.
  • 28th Two known street beggars removed from city centre.
  • Removed a known shoplifter who is on Bail conditions from the town centre. All details on DISC.
  • Two well known shoplifters removed from a city safe store. All details added to DISC.
  • 29th reported a known offender who has a CBO, this person was removed from town, all details are on DISC.
  • 30th Called to deal with two teenagers who were causing ASB, spoken to and explained what was going on but they were not interested, passed over to CCTV and police.
  • Deterred several shoplifting attempts, monitored the person till they left town.
  • 31st Welfare checks made on a drunk male in kings square, managed to get him to go home.
  • Assisted the Council to deliver leaflets to the old and vulnerable people, explaining how to contact various agencies.
