There are lots of events to attract people into Gloucester this summer. Here we list some of the main ones in date order:

 

Now until 29th Sept – Titanic Honour and Glory Exhibition: Museum of Gloucester. This explores the legacy of the world’s most famous ship, revealing the unforgettable story of the tragic liner. It brings to life the history of the legendary ocean liner and includes genuine artefacts from the Titanic, her sister ships, owners the White Star Line, plus memorabilia from the 1997 James Cameron movie. Sat and Sun 23 – 24th July – Gloucester Food Festival: This FREE event is back to cook up a storm at Gloucester Quays. If you love cooking or simply watching talented TV chefs show you how it’s done – this is ‘must save’ date for your diary! Find out more here

Mon- Sun 25-31 July – Festival of Archaeology and Lego Displays:  Lego and history come to Gloucester as part of the Gloucester Festival of Archaeology 2022, the Folk of Gloucester Museum will see three massive Lego® reconstructions of Gloucester’s past: medieval Westgate Street, the lost Foreign Bridge, and the mighty Roman Forum. It takes place at the Folk of Gloucester Museum and entry is free. Weds – Sat 27 – 31 July – Gloucester Rhythm and Blues Festival: Music-lovers in Gloucestershire will be celebrating the return of Gloucester Rhythm and Blues Festival which is at a range of venues in the city. Find out more here

Saturday 30 July – Art in the City: This event has now been revived as a plein air painting competition for professional, hobby artists and families. The day will consist of 2 plein air art competitions (one for families and one for artists), 3 creative workshops lead by Gloucester based artists and plein air painting demonstrations by national professional artists. There will be prizes in both competition categories as well as free art packs given away to families taking part in the art competition.  Find out more here

Saturday 27 Aug – Gloucester Goes Retro: Gloucester will once again be transported back in time. One of the highlights of the city’s vibrant festival calendar, the annual event is organised and funded by Gloucester City Council in partnership with the Gloucester Business Improvement District and features over 400 classic vehicles filling the historic Gate Streets and Gloucester Docks. Find out more here

Friday 9 September – Tour of Britain: Stage six of the men’s Tour of Britain will be held on Friday, 9 September. It will head east from Tewkesbury into the Cotswolds, before heading south, then coming up through the Stroud district, and finishing by Gloucester Docks. Find out more here
