Businesses across the city have come together to re-launch the Believe in Gloucester awards for 2024.

Gloucester BID is bringing back the popular event for next year to help celebrate the city’s retailers, businesses, charities and community projects.

There will be 15 categories including new awards focussing on sustainability and hair and beauty retailers as well firm favourites such as Ambassador of the Year, Best Bar or Pub and Food Business of the Year.

Gloucester BID manager Emily Gibbon said the awards would celebrate all that the city has to offer.

“We are delighted to be bringing back the Believe in Gloucester Awards next year,” she said.

“These awards will champion not just our amazing businesses but also our incredible charities, community projects and dedicated individuals who make a difference to our city.

“It has not been the easiest time for anyone with the pandemic and the current cost of living crisis and these awards are a chance to bring people together and help put Gloucester even further on the map.”

A full list of the awards will be revealed at the VIP launch event at Blackfriars Priory on November 16th. Nominations will open on February 1st 2024, with the winners voted for by the public.

The Fountain Inn was a previous winner picking up the Best Bar Award in the 2018. Manager of the Fountain and now Gloucester BID chair Kieron Bates said: “We were so pleased to win the award for Best Bar. As a team, we’re really proud of the food, drinks and customer service we offer, and this award was recognition of that.

“If anyone is thinking of nominating themselves, I would just say go for it as it meant so much to win an award from the people of Gloucester.”

Gloucester BID is also looking for sponsors to come forward to support the categories and awards night which is due to be held in the autumn.

Gloucester Quays has always been a big supporter of the awards of the years. Its Manager Owen Acland, also a Gloucester BID board member, said he welcomed the return of the awards.

“It is fantastic to see these awards back in the city after so long and we hope businesses will come forward to support the event to make it the best yet,” he said.

“We look forward to helping to promote the awards to all our retailers and customers in 2024.”

The launch event is invite-only but any former winner of the Believe in Gloucester Awards who would like to attend, can email
