Gloucester is home to one of the oldest climbing centres in the UK…

Over the last 23 years, the Warehouse Climbing Centre has expanded, so much so that there’s a potential move on the cards (still in Gloucester, of course).

Last week we sat down with the general manager, Jeremy who was more than happy to express his excitement for the future of the centre, a true climbing enthusiast.

The story began when two passionate climbers found themselves travelling down to Bristol every time they wanted to climb; after a while they decided to open up their own centre closer to home and so chose to locate themselves on Parliament Street in this beautifully historic building. Ten years ago the brothers decided to re-invest in the business in the way of climbing walls, building The Cave, mobile walls and more!

The Warehouse Climbing & Caving Centre is one of the primary locations for NICAS (National Indoor Climbing Award Scheme); this is five-level programme which is very beneficial to new climbers, equipping them with the tools to climb safely.

Come along and try something new, whether it’s bouldering (low-level climbing without a harness) or have a go on the climbing walls (high-level climbing with a harness). The centre caters for all ages from toddlers onwards with their regular clubs that they run which after completion can help you onto their courses.

For those of you that have been climbing for a while and want to try something different, why not check out The Cave, 90 metres long of indoor excitement.

As well as the climbing facilities here, the centre can accommodate for all with their digi-walls (and even a mobile cave) that can be transported anywhere in the country. This isn’t just a climbing centre, it’s also a great location to host parties and meetings in their spacious rooms upstairs.
