In 2015, in the village of Longhope The Candle Tree began…

Owner of this hidden gem is Sandra, she takes care of everything from store sales to marketing, visual merchandising and more.

The business established, and looking for a change of scenery Sandra went on the search for a new home for her business. The location of this bespoke, specialist store is key. Sandra was in search for a character property with beautiful architecture and she found exactly that on College Street but with the bonus of being next to her favourite landmark, Gloucester Cathedral.

As you walk into The Candle Tree you get a taste for a collection of cultures. The beautifully laid out and scented shop, subtly reflects the best bits from different countries Sandra has travelled to.

This is one of the go-to places for tourists, where you can take away beautifully designed gifts; from Gloucester-inspired greetings cards to handmade French soaps and lots more besides.

When asked what she loves about Gloucester, Sandra told usI’m an enthusiastic foodie and so love to discover quirky, independent eateries around the City. One of my favourites is The Crow’s Nest, located on Westgate Street.”

Sandra continued, discussing her plans for the Candle Tree in 2018 and beyond “I only moved and opened the shop to the City in November 2017, so I want to continue to get to know about our customers, what they like, and adapt to their needs and tastes accordingly.”

The meaning behind The Candle Tree comes from its roots- ‘Tree’ relates to the Forest of Dean and ‘the tree of life’.

There’s a gift for everyone at The Candle Tree and we think you’ll love the shop and the range of unique gifts she has available.
