Gloucestershire County Council is inviting members of the public to view the proposals for the new road layout which forms a vital part of the bus station hub in the heart of Gloucester city centre.

On Friday 22nd July, 11am to 7pm, at Unit 11, Grosvenor House, (on the corner of Market Parade/Kings Square) members of the public can drop in to see the proposed changes to the roads that surround the new bus station, as well as some of the plans for the new bus station building. Staff will be on hand to answer any questions and help explain the reasons behind the changes.

Whilst Gloucester City Council is behind the regeneration of the new bus station, the county council is responsible for the roads surrounding it. This event on the 22nd of July is an opportunity for the public to come and see some of the proposed changes to the road layout, as well the bus station itself.

Some of the changes to the road layout will include relocating pedestrian crossings and alterations to bus lanes. Further proposals include:

  • A new junction between Station Road and Bruton Way
  • Changes to the access for the NCP car park
  • Alterations to Bruton Way
  • Minor alterations to parking, taxi provision and drop off locations

If people are unable to attend the event at unit 11 Grosvenor House, they can view the proposals by following this link: www.gloucestershire.gov.uk/extra/tro or by visiting Gloucester Library (Brunswick Road, Gloucester), Gloucestershire County Council (Shire Hall, Gloucester) or Gloucester City Council (Herbert Warehouse, The Docks, Gloucester).

Cllr Vernon Smith, cabinet member for highways at Gloucestershire County Council, said: “The new bus station will play an integral part in the future of Gloucester. It will be bright, modern and welcoming to those who travel through it. These proposed changes to the road surrounding will help make the station easily accessible”.

“It’s important that we give the public an opportunity to view these proposals and see what the future of the bus station looks like. We want to be sure that local people know about the changes being proposed and help share the new vision for this part of Gloucester city centre.”
