Highways crews will be in Cinderford resurfacing the A4151 Steam Mills Road as part of our £150 million investment into the county’s roads.

The road surface has deteriorated and is being given a new lease of life by Gloucestershire County Council. Crews will be resurfacing Steam Mills Road overnight between 7pm – 7am from Monday 12th November to Monday 10th December (excluding weekends).

A diversion suitable for all type of vehicles will be in place. Your highways crews will complete vital resurfacing across 16,500m² of road with approximately 1,950 tonnes of material.

Cllr Vernon Smith, cabinet member for highways and flood, said: “As part of the county council’s £150 million investment, we have identified the need to take swift action to resurface Steam Mills Road in order to keep Gloucestershire moving. I’d like to thank local residents for their patience while we carry out this vital work. By carrying out the resurfacing overnight we will keep disruption to a minimum.”

What’s the diversion route? (suitable for HGV’s)

From north of the closure, follow the diversion along the A4136 via Plump Hill, Mitcheldean and Longhope. At the junction with the A40 turn right and take the A40 in the direction of Gloucester. At the Higham Court roundabout take the second exit and follow the A48 to the junction with the A4151 (Elton Corner), then turn right and follow the road to the closure point. Diversion is the same in reverse.
