County Council appoints new Director of Corporate Resources

Steve Mawson has been appointed as Director of Corporate Resources at Gloucestershire County Council, following a extensive two day interview process last month.

As well as being the council’s statutory finance officer, Steve will lead services such as property, ICT, communications and HR. Steve will also become part of the council’s corporate management team where he will support development of the wider work of the council.

Steve is currently the Chief Financial Officer and Assistant Director, Finance for Doncaster Metropolitan Borough Council, where he has worked for 15 years. He has previously worked at Leeds City Council. He is CIPFA qualified and has a Post Graduate Diploma in Management and trained in Managing Successful Programmes (MSP).

In addition to his responsibilities for Doncaster Council, Steve currently sits on the Executive committee of the Society of Municipal Treasurers.

Cllr Mark Hawthorne, Leader of the Council and Chair of the Appointments Sub-Committee said: “Steve impressed us all with his commitment to sound financial management, commercial expertise and drive for continuous improvement. I look forward to working with Steve to ensure communities across the county receive the best possible public services.”

The committee were unanimous in its decision to appoint Steve.

A start date for Steve is likely to be early August.
