Anticipation is building as robot invasion heads for Gloucestershire

An army of robots is coming to Gloucestershire in just matter of days – but there is no need to panic!

The Museum of Gloucester, based in Brunswick Road, Gloucester, is delighted to be hosting a blockbusting sci-fi exhibition – ‘Robot’ – featuring a collection of robots, cyborgs and android from TV and film over the past 40 years.

The stunning exhibits include R2D2 and C3P0 from Star Wars, a life size bust of Arnold Schwarzenegger from Terminator 2, Kryten from the TV series Red Dwarf and Locutus of Borg from Star Trek: The Next Generation.

The exhibition is being sponsored by Moose Marketing and PR, publishers of Punchline-Gloucester.com, and Cass-Stephens Insurances.

The ‘Robot’ exhibition runs from 16 July to 27 August.

Entry to the ‘Robot’ exhibition is included in the normal price of admission, which is £5 for adults, £3 concessions, £12 for a ‘family’ ticket (up to two adults and five children), while under-fives go free.

Vicki Hopson, Business Development Officer at the Museum of Gloucester, said: “We’re thrilled the ‘Robot’ exhibition is coming to the museum and it’s already attracted plenty of interest.

“The exhibits are stunning and it’s not often you get the chance to see them all on one place, like this.”

“It’s one of the largest privately-owned collection of robots, cyborgs and androids in Europe and we’re delighted it will be making the museum its home this summer.”

Cllr Lise Noakes, cabinet member for culture and leisure at Gloucester City Council, said: “I am really excited to welcome the new robot exhibit to Gloucester.

“The summer holidays are a great opportunity for young people and families to visit their local museums and see some of their favourite film and television robotic friends.”

“Where else would you have the chance to get close up and personal with R2D2 and C3P0 from Stars Wars, or stare into the face of Arnold Schwarzenegger from Terminator 2 and live to tell the tale.”

Matt Cass, director of Cass-Stephens, based at Regency House, Spa Road, Gloucester, said: “As a massive sci-fi fan, I’m absolutely delighted that ‘Robot’ is coming to Gloucester.

“I’m sure everyone has their own particular favourite robot and it’s going to be fantastic to finally get to ‘meet’ them. I just hope everyone doesn’t run for the hills!”
