A new landlord at The Tall Ships has been at the helm since June and is aiming to create an inclusive atmosphere at the historic Gloucester Quays pub.

Sam Nasrat is now renting the Grade II listed building with his business partner and has already launched several events since the summer. A new ‘Americana’ menu is being launched this week and with the pub’s talented chef, expect high quality burgers, fries and wings. Mulled wine and takeaways are also promised during the Christmas markets and ice-skating at the Quays.

Gloucestershire born Sam Nasrat had been working in Amsterdam for six years but always wanted to run his own pub. Sam and business partner Ian saw an opportunity with the Tall Ships which will be undergoing a full renovation in April before the Gloucester Tall Ships festival.

Sam is grateful for the welcome so far and excited about plans for the future. He said, ‘‘When opening, we got a lot of support from the local community; the sense of community here is brilliant. I love Gloucester: it’s very real with unique and interesting people. We are very excited about the new developments and hope to be part of decent things happening in the future.’

Tall Ships offers a range of local cask ales along with ciders and selected lagers. Happy Hour is from Monday to Friday 4-6pm with selected lagers £3 a pint, house spirts and mixers £2 a single and £3 a double.

Varied events including DJs and bands continue. Follow @tallshiponthedocks on social media for updates.
