Free cancer information and support coming to the Gloucestershire Royal Hospital

Macmillan Cancer Support’s team of Information and Support Specialists are coming to the Gloucestershire Royal Hospital from Monday 28 November to Friday 2 December to offer free, confidential information and support to anyone with a question or a concern relating to cancer. No appointment is necessary, and anyone is welcome.

The team launched the ‘Info Pod’ service to visit new sites including libraries, hospitals, and shopping centres across the region in order to reach and support more people affected by cancer.

Location: Gloucestershire Royal Hospital, Inside main entrance – by Costa Coffee,

                Great Western Road, GL1 3NN

 

Opening hours: Monday 28 November – 10am to 4pm

                          Tuesday 29 November – 10am to 4pm

                          Wednesday 30 November – 12pm to 6pm

                          Thursday 1 December – 12pm to 6pm

                           Friday 2 December – 8am to 12pm

                        

Helen Kennedy, Lead Cancer Information and Support Specialist, says, “We wanted to make sure we go even further this year to get support into the heart of the community. We are now getting out and about more and can offer a variety of services depending on where we are going. We have a large range of free information leaflets for people to take away about all aspects of a cancer diagnosis and our Information Specialists are available to provide one to one confidential support.

Our Macmillan information team can answer any questions about cancer, including information about treatments, side effects, benefits advice and what support is available locally. We’re here for anyone affected by cancer – those with a cancer diagnosis, friends, relatives and carers. Our service is free and no appointment is necessary. Everyone is welcome.”

Our five mobile information units travel around the UK visiting local communities, providing cancer information and advice on the ground. Last year they helped around 74,000 people in over 565 locations across the UK.
