Police in Gloucester are on the move. They’ve got the builders in at Bearland so police reception will be in Shire Hall until further notice.

The refurbishment work being carried out by Gloucestershire County Council, who own Bearland, is expected to take nine months to a year.

Police reception at Bearland will close at 8pm tomorrow (Wednesday) and re-open in the Shire Hall reception area on Monday (5 Dec). Opening hours will be from 9am-5pm, Monday to Friday. In addition to the reception desk there will be a separate area for the public to speak confidentially to police staff.

People will also be able to visit Barton Street police station which, from 1 December 2016, will have extended opening hours of 8am-8pm every day of the week.

The new temporary arrangements will maintain a police presence in the heart of the city centre. Once the refurbishment work is complete Gloucestershire Constabulary will return to its more familiar home in Bearland.
